Rest Ministries Lisa Copen, Founder and Editor After being diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 24, Lisa set out to find God’s purpose for her illness and how she could use it to make a difference in the lives of people who are hurting. Copen founded Rest Ministries and became the editor of HopeKeepers Magazine. Since 1997 she has touched thousands with messages of hope--while still in pain herself--through her writing, speaking and the programs of Rest Ministries. She is the author of such books as, When Chronic Illness Enters Your Life, Learning to Live With Chronic Illness Bible Study, A Woman's Health Resource Journal, Mosaic Moments and more. Visit Rest Ministries at: www.RestMinistries.org The Invisible Disabilities Advocate Founder and President, Wayne Connell, saw the need to establish, The Invisible DisabilitiesSM Advocate as a place of compassion and understanding for those living with debilitating illnesses and injuries. He is joined by several business and medical professionals. Wayne's inspiration came from his wife, Sherri, who became disabled due to Progressive Multiple Sclerosis and Late-Chronic Lyme Disease. Wayne's desire is to create awareness of the incredible courage people living with chronic illness and pain display, despite their circumstances. Where Is God Ministries Founder and President: Wayne Connell, BA Wayne has an extensive background in retail sales, management and telecom engineering. He obtained a BA in Television and radio broadcasting in 1990 from Colorado Christian University. Wayne also has further training in many areas of business and speaking. Wayne has been married to Sherri since 1994. They do not have any children, because of Sherri's illness, but they do have an adorable Shih-Tzu named, Snickers and 3 pet goats. People are surprised when they find out Wayne asked Sherri to marry him, despite her disabilities. Wayne just knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Sherri, even if it meant dealing with pain and suffering. However, Wayne had no idea that his decision would lead to having a heart for all who live with chronic illness and pain. Wayne's desire to help others who struggle with disabilities has become a passion for him. Wayne has seen so many friends, families and even churches torn apart by chronic conditions. This is why he founded this organization, Where Is God Ministries. His desire is to reach out to this community through speaking engagements, booklets and articles to help bridge the gap of understanding and support, as he continues this journey with WIGM. Joni and Friends Founded by Joni Eareckson Tada in 1979, Joni and Friends exists to communicate the gospel and equip Christ-honoring churches worldwide to evangelize and disciple people affected by disability.
