Competition is good if its done right by attitude and behavior.

James 1:4 states that "Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." Later in James 1:12 states "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to thoe who love him." In 2 Corinthians 12:9, God said: "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Trials creates competition, but our weaknesses creates fear. How have we viewed our weaknesses to this point? "Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I choose to respond to it." Chuck Swindoll In my office, I have this cute cartoon. It is showing a cute person wearing the Armor of God and shooting arrows (devil's schemes). A quote under the cartoon states: "Look at it this way...... Without these trials, testing of your faith, working of patience, and fighting a good fight.......LIFE COULD BE BORING." (see 1 Peter 1:7) Reading 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 explains that our attitudes and behaviors will be tested by fire each day we walk. While we are facing trials and competiting in this world, our attitudes and behaviors will be burned and purified. Some of our weaker attitudes and behaviors will burn up while our stronger attributes will remain and get stronger. Our sinful attitudes and behaviors are consumed because they are from our fleshly motives rather than spiritual motives. God looks at our spiritual goals so therefore our goals are to be laid up in heaven rather than worldly. We should focus on building on the Spiritual foundation (Christ) with the right spiritual motives, that our spiritual attributes will be gold, silver, and costly stones that ONLY God provides. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Gal. 6:9)
