Proverbs
I was reading Proverbs today and I have summarized what I have learned.
Kind words are like honey--sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health. A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength. The human spirit can endure a sick body, but who can bear it if the spirit is crushed? Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, but you destroy yourself when you are cruel. The godly are like trees that bear life-giving fruit, and those who save lives are wise. The godliness of good people rescues them; the ambition of treacherous people traps them. People can get many good things by the words they say; the work of their hands also gives them many benefits. Gentle words bring life and health; a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.
Don't try to avoid responsibility by saying you didn't know about it. For God knows all hearts, and he sees you. He keeps watch over your soul, and he knows you knew! And he will judge all people according to what they have done. Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it's in your power to help them. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. Disregarding another person's faults preserves love; telling about them separates close friends. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
Everyone admires a person with good sense, but a warped mind is despised. The way of the godly leads to life; their path does not lead to death. The wise look ahead to see what is coming, but fools deceive themselves. Wise people think before they act; fools don't and even brag about it! It is better to be patient than powerful.
