Halloween

Often we live in secular world that we mix old Church festivals along with pagan festivals. It's part of our heritage, the culture we grew up in. Christian parents always are stuck in the middle. To Christians, it is not a wise thing to have children go out trick or treating dressing like ghosts, dark side characters as well as evil characters. I allowed my kids to go out on begger nights and gave out treats to begger neighbors. Being a Christian requires great care and a true knowledge of the Bible to handle situations like this. We cannot close our minds to everything that is happening around us because if we do that, others are grieved by burdensome legalism. All of us are born with "conscience" but not holy. When a Christian who is saved by the conviction of the Holy Spirit, this Christian is living in a new Creature with holy conscience rather than sinful conscience. Every Christian must decide whether they will us their liberty to decide on their moral decisions. We are free, but our freedom must prove a source of real temptation of this world. We are free from the chains of sin because by grace we are saved by Christ that we are forgiven. Spiritual liberty means the freedom to be all that we were designed to be, but this is not a freedom that is without restrictions or responsibilities. As long as our conscience is clear and our heart is pure before God, don't be concerned with issues. I mean, it's like losing ourselves in the pursuit of Christ and let everything else take its place. In Romans 14:5 "One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind." 1 Corinthians 10:28-29 "both for the sake of the man who told you and for conscience' sake, the other man's conscience, I mean, not yours. For why should my freedom be judged by another's conscience?" Let's look at the History of October 31st. 1. Did you know that October 31 is Reformation Day? On October 31st in 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses on the door of the University Church in Wittenberg, Germany. We can celebrate Reformation Day on October 31st and go out on begger nights with non-believers. 2. All Hallows Eve, occurs on the eve of All Saints' Day. A festival of All Hallows or All Saints Day honoring all Christian martyrs. 3. October 31, 1941 - Mount Rushmore National Memorial was completed after 14 years of work. The memorial contains 60 foot tall sculptures of the heads of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt - representing America's founding, political philosophy, preservation, and expansion and conservation. We can be creative and show the world that Christians are not boring people. Its just that Christians don't celebrate the way the world celebrate do but we do celebrate. People who knows me personally is my biggest evangelism with my own creditbility. Creditbility is evangelism. The Best Evangelist is the Holy Spirit. We are to spread the Gospel and the Holy Spirit will do the rest. Many have accepted Christ by watching Christians more than talking. I am passing out goodies on beggers night and meet our neighbors.
