I am a Servant of God

God will not dwell in our prideful thoughts of ourselves. We are not a god or even close to Holy God however, we are to think like God as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:16"I urge you to imitate me." The heart is where God meets us. The heart is the hardest area to heal because the heart is where "pride" springs out. Psalm 10:17--"Lord, Thou hast heard the desire of the humble." Proverbs 15:33--"Before honor is humility." The Lord lifts up the humble (James 4:10). Colossians 3:12 instructs us to put on humility. First Peter 5:5 tells us to be clothed with humility. And Ephesians 4:1-2 says we are to walk in humility. If you desire honor and glory from God, you must display humility first. That is contrary to our earthly philosophy, which exalts pride (i.e. a god). "A god" is an object of worship. "A god" is forbidden in the First Commandment of the Ten Commandments. The First Commandment: You shall have no other gods before Me (Exod. 20:3). Just because we are Christians, think we have no other gods but we do. What are our other "gods?" We all have them. No one is exempt. We should all take a long hard look at what things we consider to be important. Neither spiritual pride nor spiritual cowardice are acceptable. Proverbs 26:12 (NIV) "Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him." Isaiah 40: 25 (NIV) "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One. We are a Christian simply because I have accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior. The Holy Spirit is IN us. We have God in us, which does not mean we are a god. As a disciple, our Christian faith should be inward, not outward (i.e. title) because the Bible teaches that faith is of the spirit and not of the flesh. Christ dwells in our hearts, and "Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1:27) is the burning core of the Christian faith. We are not a god but rather a "Servant" and "Friends of God". Philippians 2:4-8 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross! John 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 2 Corinthians 4:5 "For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake." 2 Corinthians 6:4 "Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way......." I am a teacher, a preacher because in Ephesians 3:7 says "I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power." We are to live as SERVANTS of God: 1 Peter 2:16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
