The Lord Strikes....
Get to know two things about a man-
How he earns his money and how he spends it-
and you have the clue to his character, for you have a search light that shows up the inmost recesses of his soul. You know all you need to know about his standards, his motives, his driving desires, and his real religion. Robert J. McCracken
"Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You weren't lying to us but to God." Peter, Acts 5:3-4
KEY VERSEs of the story:
Acts 5:5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died. And great fear seized all who heard what had happened.
Acts 5:11
Great fear seized the whole church and all who heard about these events.
God wants us to respect Him of who HE is. Psalm 112:1 Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. We should know the power of God's and His wrath is as great as the fear that is due us at any time (Psalm 90:11). In Hebrews 12:10 "Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness." Then we see the next verse, Hebrews 12:11, No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
“For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, and He scourges every son He receives.” (Heb. 12:6).
5 When Ananias heard this, he fell down and died.
9-10 Peter said to her, "How could you agree to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look! The feet of the men who buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out also." At that moment she fell down at his feet and died.
Either Satan did it for Peter or God?
2 Samuel 12:14..."the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and he became ill." and died.
