Who am I?
We are the clay and God is the potter. Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use? In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, so that the work of God might be displayed in our life. For God knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust, that He can turn things upside down, as if the potter were thought to be like the clay. Shall what is formed say to Him who formed it, "He did not make me"? Can the pot say of the potter, "He knows nothing"? I will NOT say that! Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. God is able to make all grace abound to us, so that in all things at all times, having all that we need, we will abound in every good work. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
God created my inmost being and knitted me together in my mother's womb. As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. This is what the LORD says— "He who made you, Who formed you in the womb, and Who will help you and that before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart. In Him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will. The LORD said to Moses, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?" I was born this way so that the work of God might be displayed in my life and I know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD. In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes His lightning flash? As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than my ways and God's thoughts than my thoughts.
How can anyone be a Christian and not fully aware of the sovereignty of God? Sovereign God is the absolute, infinite, unqualified ruler in all realms in heaven, earth and sea. God governs the world (Isa. 40:22-24), the nations (Isa. 40:15-17), and us (Proverbs 16:9). God is absolutely powerful, that God is omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent, that God is immutable, never changes, that God is all wise, perfectly just, holy, righteous. The Christian walk is a fight of Faith, we have to understand that living (walking) by faith, we accept purpose and plans of God however He sees fit. 1 Cor. 10:13, "These has no testing taken you but such as is common to man; but God will, with the testing, also make a way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says "God said 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.' 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His ; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer. My God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song. For the word of the LORD is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. God is with you in everything you do for if God is for us, who can be against us?
The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; His eyes examine them. God is not impressed by my appearance (1. Samuel 16:7). The Lord said to Samuel, "Don't judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord don't make decisions the way you do. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at a person's thoughts and intentions (heart)." (NLT) Jesus even said that appearances can be deceiving (Matt. 23:27), therefore we are not to judge others by their appearances (James 2:2-4). "The trouble with you is that you make your decisions on the basis of appearance." 2 Corinthians 10:7 (NLT) “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You do scrutinize my path and my lying down, and are intimately acquainted with all my ways” (Psalm 139:1-3). “He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God” (Rom. 8:27). The heart is where God meets us because that is where we make our decisions. Our hearts are where our desires and motives are located. It is important to understand that our hearts is the state of our "flesh". Our flesh search for pleasure, pride, passions and selfish motives. The heart is the source of our emotions, thoughts and motives. Jesus Christ cleaned our sins and all God wants us to do is be Christ-like. Jesus said in Matthew 5:8 "God blesses those whose hearts are pure, for they will see God." God wants our hearts more than He want us to follow rules. If we give our hearts to God, then we will know what is sinful and what is not sinful. During our struggles with the flesh and facing temptations, we have to learn that we should not be looking at our inadequacies because obviously, they will always be there. We just need to be looking at our adequacy in the Holy Spirit, which will always be in us. This is God's design, and it pleases Him to do so that we can rely on the Holy Spirit. "Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."--Matt. 26:41. Biblically, Christians are no longer "in the flesh": "You are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him" (Rom 8:9). The Greek word for "dwells" is okv (oike), which means "I inhabit." "If Christ is in us, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness" (Romans 8:10). In other words, our human body is subject to death (and is already dying) because of sin, however our spirit is alive in Christ. We have eternal life in our possession, even though our body is dying because of sin. However, as Christians, our spirits are fully alive and thriving "because of righteousness"--because HE is justified and therefore already has "passed out of death into life" (John 5:24). "My temorary body is decaying at the same time, my inner being is being renewed day by day" (2 Cor 4:16). "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit." Galatians 5:25.
Remember, the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts with all the power and gifts of God, necessary to enable us to walk the noble, spiritual, Son-like life with God.
